Herder Side Arm Flail Mower KMA
Maximum efficiency with a Herder Sidearm Flail Mower
Herder is based in Middelburg and is an innovative and progressive enterprise. Throughout the years, the business operation has been distinguished by various awards, recently with the prestigious European EDGE Innovation Award. Herder sets the standard in the field of sidearm flail mowers too. The basic concept is a KMA flail mower and a hydraulically powered arm. Boom configuration allows for the longest reach possible. Herder flail mowers can be set to work with all tractors of at least 50 kW capacity. You can count on a high return no matter what kind of tractor you use.
Herder Sidearm Flail Mower is perfectly suited for all types of landscape.
The Herder sidearm flail mower is most suitable for mowing in between and around trees and other obstacles. Manoeuvring close in-between trees is easily done because the mower deck swings behind the tractor to bypass the obstruction, and does not have to be folded. This mower is ideal for mowing along roads - it is also completely safe, because in practice you can keep closer to the side of the road. Mowing along the far side of a ditch has never been easier. It goes without saying, you can also use it for mowing on sloping ground.
Powerful transmission takes care of the maximum efficiency produced every time you use it.
The rotor of the Flail Mower is driven trough a V-belt transmission and a gear transmission box by the tractor’s PTO rotating at 1000 rpm. There is an overrunning clutch mounted on the PTO between the tractor and the gear box. Using this function, you can disengage the rotor from the flail mower, when the tractor’s PTO is in an off mode. The rotor is driven inside the mower deck by the power of a rotation speed of about 2000 rpm. The centrifugal power resulting from it forces the flails outwards. The high speed flails cut and chop the vegetation, which is then removed to the back of the mower deck. Even long stalks and branches can be easily mowed away, and the irregularities left behind do not in any way remain a hindrance. It is possible to pre-set the degree of chopping the grass by adjusting the cutter bar.

Minimum Maneuvering with Sideshift
Sideshift is another advantage integrated into a Herder flail mower. This advanced system requires minimum control because the mower fits completely inside the framework of the tractor. The mower is adjustable starting in the middle of the tractor up to 4.0 meter and has a lateral adjustable length up to 3.1 meter. Lateral movement is performed safely with the mower on the ground. A shift to a side proceeds in a straight line, indicated by an arrow on the controls. The Herder flail mowers help you achieve the most.
It is only natural to encounter some kind of obstacle on your way that you have to drive around again and again. The progress becomes slow, annoying and it is not safe.
From now on and with a Herder Sideshift you don’t have to go around any obstacles, because the mower trails behind the tractor. That way, you can keep to the side of the road.
Once you bypass the obstruction, using Sideshift again you can adjust the mower back to working position, and go straight on with mowing.
